What a POS really costs a 3-location diner in 2026 (USA, UAE, Pakistan)
Published POS software prices compared for a 3-location diner with 2 registers each, in the USA, plus reference prices for the UAE and Pakistan. Checked October 2026.
Key takeaways
- Per-device pricing punishes chains: every extra register and kitchen screen adds a fee.
- For 3 locations × 2 registers, list software prices ranged widely in October 2026.
- Processing, hardware and add-ons usually cost more than the software line.
- Compare on your own setup, with your own processor rate.
The headline price on a POS website is the least useful number on it. What a diner chain actually pays depends on how many registers and screens it runs, whether processing is tied in, and how long the contract is. We priced one realistic setup on 2026-10-18.
The setup we priced
A 3-location diner with 2 registers per location (a counter till and a second tablet for the floor or takeaway), table service, kitchen tickets and basic multi-location reporting. Software only, published list prices, USD.
US list prices for that setup
| POS | Plan | How it is priced | 3 locations × 2 registers / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| GetDinerPOS | Chain | $55 per location, registers unlimited | 3 × $55 |
| Square for Restaurants | Plus | per location for one device + a fee per extra device | see the comparison |
| Toast | Point of Sale | per location; multi-location quoted | see the comparison |
| Clover | Table Service | per device | see the comparison |
| Lightspeed Restaurant | Essential | per location | see the comparison |
Each comparison page lists the exact published figures we found, the sources, and where that vendor is stronger. The home page shows the computed totals side by side.
What stands out: per-device pricing adds up quickly. Two devices per location is modest; many diners run four (counter, two server tablets, kitchen screen). Under per-device pricing that can double the software line; under per-location pricing it changes nothing.
The costs that aren’t on the pricing page
- Card processing. Usually the biggest number. Rates of roughly 2.5–3.5% plus a per-transaction fee are common in the US. If a vendor requires its own processing, you can’t shop for a better rate.
- Hardware. Vendor-locked terminals cost more than standard tablets and become scrap if you leave.
- Add-ons. Online ordering, loyalty, inventory or advanced reporting are separate modules at some vendors.
- Contract length. A two-year agreement turns a monthly price into a long commitment.
- Onboarding. Some vendors charge for setup or menu building; others include it.
The UAE
UAE prices are normally quoted excluding VAT by vendors and including VAT on menus. As a reference point, a widely used regional POS listed its Basic plan at AED 375 per month billed annually, excluding VAT when we checked (source). GetDinerPOS Chain is AED 199 per location per month including 5% VAT, with unlimited registers.
Pakistan
Cloud restaurant POS subscriptions in Pakistan commonly start around Rs 3,499 per month (source), with multi-branch features often costing more. GetDinerPOS Chain is Rs 4,499 per branch per month, plus applicable sales tax, including stock transfers and per-branch prices.
How to compare for your own diner
- Count every device: tills, server tablets, kitchen screens.
- Ask whether processing is required, and at what rate.
- Ask for the contract length and the early-exit terms in writing.
- Price the add-ons you actually need: online store, loyalty, inventory, reporting.
- Add hardware as a one-off.
Our savings calculator does this maths for your locations in USD, AED or PKR, and the pricing page lists every GetDinerPOS price per market.
